1966 Nascar Rookie of the Year to Attend Love Chevrolet Columbia Speedway Spring Festival

COLUMBIA,SCApril 17, 2009 – The Love Chevrolet Columbia Speedway Spring Festival and RacersReunion.com is proud to announce James Hylton will make tracks at the Columbia Speedway during the festival.  Hylton, a 1966 NASCAR Grand National Rookie of the Year and winner of the 1972Talladega500, will bring his number 48 car to the track which is located at U.S. Highway 321 inCayce,SC.  The First Annual Love Chevrolet Columbia Speedway Spring Festival will be held on Saturday, April 25 from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  The event and parking to attend is free and open to the public.

The festival will feature show cars, live video interview with racers and fans, food, music, door prizes, and vendors. LexingtonMedicalCenterwill conduct free prostate screenings. Items including race tickets, racing team garage passes, gift certificates, car wash will be up for auction.  Great racing legends of NASCAR including Buddy Baker, Paul “Little Bud” Moore, Charlie Glotzback, Haskell Willingham, Paul Rex White,Neil“Soapy” Castles, Paul Lewis, Billy Scott, Ed Greer and others will be on hand for autographs.

“I always did pretty well there, so sign me up,” stated Hylton. “I remember coming toColumbiaand winning the pole and finishing third behind (Richard) Petty. If I hadn’t had the flu, it would’ve been more fun,” he added. His most recent attempt to qualify for a NASCAR race was in 2007 when he just barely missed the starting lineup for the Daytona 500.  Hylton, aged 74 years-old, continues to compete in the ARCA series mainly in theMidwest.
