While visiting the salt marsh\, longleaf pine forest\, and Friendfield Village\, meet scholars from the three Baruch Institutes and Hobcaw Barony staff who will educate you on their findings. See a juvenile alligator up close\, learn about salt marsh and forestry research\, and hear fresh insights about President Franklin Roosevelt’s 1944 visit.\nParticipants will need to dress for the weather\, wear closed-toe shoes and bring sunscreen\, bug spray and water. This is a rain or shine event. (Exertion level: Moderate impact – walking on uneven terrain\, standing) \n$35 per person. Reservations required: hobcawbarony.org/events(opens in new tab) \nPlease note that tour participants travel via a 12-person passenger bus on rustic roads comprised of sand and dirt. Often\, the roads are extremely rough and rutted\, a situation which will jostle riders on the bus. Although the staff at Hobcaw Barony tries to keep them smooth\, due to changeable weather and other factors\, the condition of the rural roadways cannot be guaranteed to be smooth.

SUMMARY:Maternal Health Fair and Community Baby Shower to Provide Resources and Support for Upstate Families
DESCRIPTION:Community partners are coming together to support women\, mothers\, expectant parents and families during the upcoming Women’s & Maternal Health Fair and Community Baby Shower. The free community event will take place Saturday\, October 24\, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Long Branch Baptist Church\, 28 Bolt Street\, Greenville\, SC 29605. \nHosted through a collaboration among Bon Secours\, New Horizon Family Health Services\, G.A.C.E.\, and the NAACP Greenville Branch #5522\, the event is designed to improve access to maternal health information\, wellness resources\, and parenting support while celebrating and uplifting families in the community. \nAttendees will have access to a variety of educational opportunities and demonstrations focused on maternal\, infant and women’s health\, including car seat safety demonstrations\, infant and adult CPR demonstrations\, lactation education\, mental health and self-care resources\, evidence-based nutrition education\, access to local midwives and doulas as well as reproductive health education. \nThe Bon Secours mobile mammography unit will also be on site. Anyone who wishes to take advantage of its services at the event should call 864-546-8712 to pre-register. The event will also feature community vendors\, food\, giveaways and family-friendly activities. \nThe event will also feature a Community Baby Shower. Between now and October 23\, organizers will be collecting donations of new or gently used baby items for that initiative. Requested donations include diapers\, wipes\, bottles\, baby clothing\, car seats\, strollers\, bassinets\, Pack ’n Plays\, baby care items\, breastfeeding essentials\, maternity clothing and other necessities for infants and new mothers. \nAnyone wishing to donate can do so at the Sterling Hope Center (709 Dunbar Street\, Greenville) from Monday to Thursday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. or at Long Branch Baptist Church (28 Bolt Street\, Greenville) from Monday to Thursday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. All donated items will be distributed to mothers and families attending the Women’s & Maternal Health Fair and Community Baby Shower.
