Live Stream of Mercury Transit
November 11 @ 7:30 am - 1:30 pm$8.95
State Museum astronomers will live stream Mercury’s transit in front of the sun from the museum’s Alvan Clark telescope in the Boeing Observatory. The live stream will be available via the museum’s facebook page. Mercury will begin its journey across the sun on at 7:35 a.m.. The entire transit will take roughly 5 and a half hours, ending at 1:04 p.m. Guests will also be able to stop by the museum’s observatory to see the transit in person throughout the duration of the event. This rare event won’t be seen from Earth again until 2032. Visit scmuseum.org to learn more.
Please note: viewing is dependent on clear skies. It is very important to remember that looking directly at the Sun with the naked-eye or through unfiltered telescopes and binoculars could cause serious eye damage. Please make sure to take the proper precautions when observing the transit.
