Palmetto Breeze hosts virtual public meeting for Transit Master Plan – May 18-31

May 31

The Lowcountry Council of Governments (LCOG) and Lowcountry Regional Transportation Authority (LRTA, operators of Palmetto Breeze Transit) are hosting a Virtual Public Meeting to share information and collect public feedback on three new proposed transit routes in the Bluffton area. The Virtual Public Meeting is being hosted on the transit system’s website from May 18, 2020 through May 31, 2020 and can be accessed at www.palmettobreezetransit.com.

The Virtual Public Meeting presents information on the new proposed transit routes – Bluffton Parkway, Buckwalter Place, and Buckwalter. The proposed routes were developed as part of the Transit Master Plan conducted by LCOG and LRTA to provide a mobility option for the local workforce and transit service for commercial and residential areas.

Attendees are able to view maps of the proposed routes as well as a brief video presentation, and can download and review the completed transit study. Attendees are encouraged to provide comments on the plan and the proposed routes by completing the brief feedback form provided on the website. A Spanish-language version of the information is also provided.

“We are really excited about our ability to continue moving forward with our master planning efforts as we continue to guard against the spread of COVID-19,” said Mary Lou Franzoni, Palmetto Breeze’s Executive Director. “In fact, we had been discussing hosting our meeting virtually even as the pandemic was developing in late February, so we have been preparing for this for some time.”

Franzoni also stressed the importance of collecting community feedback. “Obviously, a traditional in-person public meeting is not going to happen, so it is critical for all of our stakeholders and community leaders to promote our Virtual Public Meeting to their constituencies.”
