SUMMARY:Nunsense
DESCRIPTION:The Swamp Fox Players presents the musical comedy Nunsense at the Georgetown Strand Theatre. Directed by Karen Morello\, the show will run March 5\, 6\, 7\, 12\, 13\, and 14 at 7:30 pm\, with two Sunday matinees scheduled for March 8 and 15 at 2:30 pm. \nTickets are $25 and may be ordered online at www.swampfoxplayers.com or by phone at 843-527-2924\, extension 1. \nThe play follows the capers of the Order of the Little Sisters of Hoboken as they take over the church to hold a fundraising variety show to raise money to bury several sisters\, who were accidentally poisoned by their cook. They must inter the nuns before the health inspector comes and finds the dead nuns in their freezer! Fraught with hilarity\, both Catholic and otherwise\, the audience watches as the nuns try to perform their planned performance amidst chaos and calamity.

SUMMARY:Glorious Sextets
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, March 8\, at 3pm at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church (405 King Street) Chamber Music Charleston presents “Glorious String Sextets.” Guest violinist Daniel Ching\, founding member of the internationally celebrated Miró Quartet\, and guest cellist Alan Rafferty of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra join musicians of Chamber Music Charleston for an afternoon of richly textured\, exuberant chamber music. The concert opens with Mozart’s Grande Sestetto Concertante\, an exquisite and rarely heard arrangement of the composer’s beloved Sinfonia Concertante\, K. 364. This elegant reimagining preserves the glowing dialogue and luminous charm of the original while offering a captivating new sound world for string sextet\, and reflects the type of music that was performed during the height of the Saint Cecilia Society. \nThe program continues with Dvořák’s String Sextet in A Major\, Op. 48\, a masterpiece that overflows with folk-inspired melodies\, vibrant rhythmic energy\, and the warm lyricism for which the composer is cherished. Brimming with both intimacy and brilliance\, the sextet highlights Dvořák’s gift for weaving heartfelt expressivity into spirited\, dance-like movements.
