SUMMARY:A Glorious Cause: Historian Dr. Nicholas Cole presents on “Re-examining Founding Documents of the American Revolution”
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, April 7 at 6:00 p.m. as part of “A Glorious Cause\,” in partnership with the Coastal Carolina University HTC Honors College\, the Waccamaw Library (41 St. Paul Place\, Pawleys Island\, SC 29585) will host renowned historian Dr. Nicholas Cole\, a Senior Research Fellow at the prestigious Pembroke College\, University of Oxford. Dr. Cole has been invited to share his expertise on the figures and ideas that drove early American politics in lectures around Europe and the United States. He serves as Director of the Quill Project\, an innovative software platform used to recreate the original political and historical contexts in which major democratic legal documents were created. The Quill Project’s flagship project is a presentation of the 1787 Constitutional Convention\, which produced the Constitution of the United States. \nThe Georgetown County Library (GCL) will host a series of 20 public educational programs and exhibits as part of “A Glorious Cause: South Carolina and the American Revolution: A Public History Initiative of the Georgetown County Library.” The programs\, which will be free and open to the public\, will take place at each of GCL’s 5 facilities across Georgetown County from March 2026 through June 2026. The project is made possible by a $39\,300 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the South Carolina State Library (SCSL).
