DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, April 30 at 10:00 a.m. at the Waccamaw Library (41 St. Paul Place\, Pawleys Island\, SC 29585)\, as part of “A Glorious Cause\,” Dr. Elizabeth Chew\, the CEO of the South Carolina Historical Society in Charleston\, will offer a view into the cultural life of the period\, exploring important artworks and artists of the American Revolution. A historian\, curator\, and educator\, Dr. Chew has worked at museums and historic sites since 1985\, including James Madison’s Montpelier\, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello\, the National Gallery of Art\, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. \nThe Georgetown County Library (GCL) will host a series of 20 public educational programs and exhibits as part of “A Glorious Cause: South Carolina and the American Revolution: A Public History Initiative of the Georgetown County Library.” The programs\, which will be free and open to the public\, will take place at each of GCL’s 5 facilities across Georgetown County from March 2026 through June 2026. The project is made possible by a $39\,300 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the South Carolina State Library (SCSL).
