The proposed project will replace the existing intersection with a roundabout to improve safety and traffic operations. SCDOT will provide preliminary design information and details about potential impacts of the project during the drop-in public information meeting. \nThe drop-in style meeting will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday\, October 1\, 2026 at Waccamaw Intermediate School\, 320 Wildcat Way\, Pawleys Island\, SC 29585. There will not be a formal presentation. SCDOT representatives will be available to discuss project plans with attendees and answer questions. Participants should wear closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather (and the possibility of biting insects) This is a rain or shine event. (Exertion level: Low impact – walking on uneven ground\, standing) \n$10/child (age 3+)\, $15/adult. Often\, the roads are extremely rough and rutted\, a situation which will jostle riders on the bus. Although the staff at Hobcaw Barony tries to keep them smooth\, due to changeable weather and other factors\, the condition of the rural roadways cannot be guaranteed to be even.

DESCRIPTION:Belle Baruch was an extraordinary equestrian. While growing up at Hobcaw\, she spent endless hours riding with family and friends. As she matured\, she became a dynamic and fearless competitor at polo\, horse showing and international show jumping in Europe where she excelled beyond anyone’s imagination. When Belle started building her home at Bellefield Plantation\, the stable was of vital importance. She wouldn’t allow a line to be drawn on paper until she had returned from France to supervise! Join Hobcaw Barony staff and volunteers for a stable and grounds tour (the house is closed) of Bellefield Plantation. Participants will drive their own cars one mile from the front gate to Bellefield where the stable tour begins. An experienced equestrian will be present to showcase and discuss Belle’s riding attire and its symbolism\, equipment\, trophies and medals. Photographs and artifacts will be on hand to feature Belle’s expansive riding exploits in France and here at home. A walking tour of the grounds will take place after the presentation where you can view the pond and the tea terrace on which Belle entertained President Roosevelt for lunch and told her many interesting stories. There will also be a cast iron cooking demonstration. This presentation brings the sights\, sounds\, and flavors of the past to life. \nParticipants will need to dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes. Participant’s automobiles will need to be able to navigate rustic roads comprised of sand and dirt. This is a rain or shine event. DESCRIPTION:Interested in exploring the process (and happy accidents!) of botanical monoprints? Join this workshop in the Discovery Center classroom to experiment with the medium. There will be a variety of pre-colored and patterned papers and quick pressed herbs\, leaves and flowers to create unique prints of those botanical silhouettes. Materials will be supplied by Hobcaw\, but bring any interesting botanical material to work with also. Harvest it and press it the night before the workshop. Sandwich those fresh leaves/flowers between two sheets of paper and place a heavy book or weight on that assemblage. Bring the “sandwich” to the workshop for additional interest. Ditto on the paper used to print the inked images. Pre-color or paint some paper\, or bring some special patterned paper to experiment with.
