SUMMARY:Hike Hobcaw: Clambank
DESCRIPTION:Visit one of the most studied estuaries in the world in this 4-mile hike through the salt marsh of North Inlet. The group will travel by bus to the forest edge where the hike begins. The marsh causeway will lead to Clambank Landing- an Indigenous Peoples shell midden that later housed the duck hunting cabins for Bernard Baruch and his guests. In the distance\, participants will see North Island and part of Hobcaw Beach\, where Belle Baruch watched for German spies during World War II. Pictures and stories of the history and ecology will be shared. \nParticipants will need to dress for the weather\, wear closed-toe shoes\, and bring bug spray\, snack\, and water. Program is weather dependent. (Exertion level: High impact – hiking\, standing for long periods\, walking on uneven terrain) \n$38 per person. DESCRIPTION:How do plants and animals survive in the salt marsh – a salty ecosystem that changes multiple times a day based on the tide? Organisms like fiddler crabs\, periwinkle snails\, and picklegrass have amazing adaptations! After playing a game in the Discovery Center\, participants will take a bus ride to the salt marsh to search for some of these intriguing creatures. Walking in pluff mud is included! \nRecommended for ages 6 and up; children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should wear closed-toe shoes that can get wet and muddy (ex: rainboots or water shoes) and bring another pair of shoes to change into after the salt marsh. Participants should dress for the weather and may want to bring a water bottle. Program is weather dependent. (Exertion level: High impact – walking on uneven terrain\, standing in direct sunlight). \n$10 per child (age 3+)\, $15 per adult. Reservations required: hobcawbarony.org/events(opens in new tab) \nPlease note that tour participants travel via a 14-person passenger bus on rustic roads comprised of sand and dirt. Often\, the roads are extremely rough and rutted\, a situation which will jostle riders on the bus. Although the staff at Hobcaw Barony tries to keep them smooth\, due to changeable weather and other factors\, the condition of the rural roadways cannot be guaranteed to be smooth.

DESCRIPTION:Assemble to Serve Humanity (ASH)\, in partnership with Rich Eatz and the Gullah Goodz Cultural Heritage Foundation\, will host its Inaugural Potluck of Hope on Saturday\, November 28\, 2026\, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 1810 State Street (Merriman Road)\, Georgetown\, SC 29440. \nThe Potluck of Hope is a community gathering created to bring neighbors together over a shared meal while extending fellowship\, encouragement\, and support to individuals and families experiencing hardship. \nThe event is free and open to the community. Meals will be available on a first-come\, first-served basis while supplies last. Guests and community supporters are also encouraged to donate hygiene products. Donations collected during the event will benefit ASH’s 5th Annual We Care Package Distribution\, scheduled for December 18\, 2026.
