DESCRIPTION:Westminster Presbyterian Church in Clinton will hold a Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service on Thursday\, April 6 at 7:00 pm.  \nWhat is a Tenebrae Service?  \n“The purpose of the service is to create a sense of the betrayal\, abandonment\, and agony of the events surrounding Christ’s death\,” said Senior Pastor Chad Reynolds. “Our doors are open to all who wish to join us for this special service and every Sunday.”  \nThe word ‘tenebrae’ is Latin for shadows. The purpose of the Tenebrae service is to remind ourselves of the events surrounding Christ’s death. The service includes scripture narratives divided into seven parts. The service will include solemn hymns\, instrumental or choral music\, a brief sermon\, and Communion.  \nThe Tenebrae service starts with candles lit on the pulpit. There are as many candles as there are readings. Each reading is followed by music and then one of the candles is extinguished until the congregation is in near total darkness—and near total devastation. At this point a portion of Isaiah 53 will be read and the service ends. There is no benediction\, and the people leave in silence. The lights are turned up but remain dim so that people can see their way out.  \nWestminster Presbyterian Church is located at 1387 Highway 56 in Clinton\, South Carolina.

DESCRIPTION:Laurens County Museum\nMagnolia Room\nFree and open to the public \nPatricia McNeely\, Professor\nUniversity of South Carolina \n	Professor McNeely will be speaking on the “Historic South Carolina Ghosts and Legends”   while attending the Laurens District Chapter of the South Carolina Genealogical Society.  \n	Professor McNeely taught writing and reporting in the College of Journalism for thirty three years. Before joining the USC faculty\, McNeely was a reporter and editor for The Greenville News\, The State and The Columbia Record. She is the author of many books such as  “Historic South Carolina Ghosts and Legends;” “Handwritten Recipes and Memories from America’s First Families;” “Henry Timrod: poet\, reluctant soldier and war correspondent”;  “Lincoln\, Sherman\, Davis and the Lost Confederate Gold;” “Andrew Jackson\, John C. Calhoun and the Petticoat Affair”; “Eyewitnesses to General Sherman’s Civil War Campaign”; “Sherman’s Flame and Blame Campaign through Georgia and the Carolinas … and the burning of Columbia” and four more. \n	The lecture will contain dozens of tales of ghosts and haunted places have found their way into South Carolina’s mainstream media. Many have their origins in the 19th century and most in historic places. Some places have only one or two supernatural stories while others like Charleston\, Columbia\, Beaufort\, Chester\, Darlington and Edgefield have numerous sightings and unexplained phenomena. Whether you believe in ghosts or not\, the author’s stories\, pictures and illustrations will leave you wondering.  This book will be available to purchase.

SUMMARY:Spring Craft Fair
DESCRIPTION:It’s that time again! Our Spring Craft Fair is Saturday\, April 15th. I have something planned every weekend until mid-May\, so I am sorry if this conflicts with another fair\, but it is the only Saturday available. \nJust as before\, please let me know if you would like to be a vendor! We have a few tables that can be reserved (please only reserve if you feel sure you are coming)\, otherwise you can bring your own setup. There is no fee\, but I do ask that you sell items that you personally created because I really want to help support the local community and showcase what you can do. \nThese are usually our busiest days of the year\, so hopefully\, you will have a good time as well! Please message me here or email me at vestibulecoffee@gmail.com with what you would like to sell and if you need to reserve a table. \nWe are looking forward to it!

DESCRIPTION:Who: Everyone is welcome\, but make sure your little one is old enough and capable of walking safety on the shoulder of the road.  Parent and guardian must accompany any kids under 18 years old.    \nPlease RSVP below so we know how many people to expect!\nWhat: During this volunteer litter pickup event you will be assigned a section of E Farley Av and Garlington St to pick up trash. We will provide safety vests\, trash bags\, trash grabbers\, and gloves. Please wear shoes that can get muddy and wet and be prepared for walking on the shoulder of the road. We encourage you to bring your own water and snacks. \nWhen: April 21th from 10:30pm-12pm \nWhere: We will be cleaning E Farley Av and Garlington St .  \nMeeting Location 627 E Main St STE A\, Laurens\, SC 29360 (old Family Video) \nPrior to volunteering everyone will be required to fill out our Volunteer Waiver Form.
