SUMMARY:Firefly Distillery’s Two-Day Food Truck Festival
DESCRIPTION:Firefly Distillery is hosting its first two-day Food Truck Festival on Saturday\, February 4 from 12 – 5 p.m. and Sunday\, February 5 from 12 – 4 p.m. Free to attend\, the event will feature 20+ of Charleston’s favorite food trucks ranging from Greek to Italian cuisine\, southern comfort food to healthy eats. In partnership with the Lowcountry Food Truck Festival\, this event will host the most food trucks to date at Firefly Distillery located along the Noisette Creek in Park Circle. \nSimilar to past food truck festivals at the Distillery\, an array of local food trucks will take over the four-acre field each day and on Firefly’s Front Porch\, DJ Scotty Sain will be playing tunes from 12 – 4 p.m. Attendees can enjoy food truck fare and craft cocktails throughout the event and are encouraged to bring chairs\, pop-up tables\, blankets or lawn games to spread out on the field. \nFood trucks participating in the free two-day event include: \nLaSon Anchor Grill\nMiss Katie’s Sweets\nDon Sazon Empanadas\nMr. B’s On The Go\nFed Up Food Truck\n&Lobster\nFood Art Catering\nLola’s Lumpia\nFab Sliders\nTaste of Berlin\nHappy Thai\nGorditas Locas\nBangin Vegan Eats\nDelights Dessert and Coffee\nThe Pita Stroller\nChucktown Meatball\nJames Brown’s Famous Boiled Peanuts\nRoti Rolls\nBig Daddy’s LoCo Food Truck\nTamashii\nWild Grown Foods \nFirefly Distillery will open at 12 p.m. and offer seasonal and craft cocktails\, and beer for purchase. DESCRIPTION:Waring Historical Library’s Black History Month Lecture to focus on a new perspective on Harriet Tubman \nDeirdre Cooper Owens\, Ph.D.\, will present the Waring Historical Library Society’s Black History Month Lecture focusing on Harriet Tubman’s contributions to medical history. As a historian of medicine\, Cooper Owens has documented the importance of Black women’s healing practices to the development of American medicine. In her presentation\, she will discuss Harriet Tubman’s contributions to the Black freedom struggle and highlight Tubman’s healing practices as a complement to her abolitionism. The lecture will be held both in person and also livestreamed to accommodate those who cannot be on campus. The event will be hosted by MUSC’s Waring Historical Library on Monday\, Feb. 6\, at 6:00 p.m. in the Drug Discovery Building Auditorium on the MUSC campus. \nCooper Owens\, the Linda and Charles Wilson Professor in the History of Medicine and director of the Humanities in Medicine program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln\, is one of two Black women in the nation who hold these positions. She is currently working on a popular biography of Harriet Tubman through the lens of disability and a monograph about the history of race\, medical discovery and the C-section. \nThis event is free and open to the public\, though reservations are required.
