DESCRIPTION:Join us for the premiere of The Rising Tide: Literacy in the Lowcountry\, a powerful documentary that lifts the voices of teachers\, administrators\, and families leading a grassroots movement to transform literacy across Charleston. \nThe film captures the heart of this work through the stories of two families whose lives are forever changed by access to the Orton-Gillingham approach—an approach unlocking reading for children who have long been left behind. Their journeys are woven together with the perspectives of educators and community leaders who are rising up to ensure every child has the fundamental right to read. \nFollowing the screening\, a panel of educators\, parents\, and literacy advocates will discuss the current state of literacy in South Carolina and highlight how the Lowcountry Literacy Project is changing student outcomes across the region. \nMore than a film\, The Rising Tide is a call to action. DESCRIPTION:More than 200 watercraft will be on display at the Charleston Boat Show from Jan. 23-25 at the Charleston Area Convention Center Complex. The annual event is a one-stop shop for all things boating and features new model leisure watercraft and marine gear\, show-only deals\, live music\, and food trucks. \nThis year will showcase upwards of 100 different boat brands and more than 130 exhibitors. Event hours are 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday\, Jan. 23-24\, and 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Sunday\, Jan. 25. Free parking is available on site. Tickets are $15 for adults at the door and $7 for children ages 4 to 12.
