Participants of all team sizes and skill levels are invited to compete and awards will be given for 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place as well as a “People’s Choice” winner. DESCRIPTION:The Historic Melrose Art in the Yard will once again welcome artists and artisans to show and sell their original work in the historic\, downtown Columbia neighborhood. The event will be held on Sunday\, December 8\, 2024\, from 1 to 5 pm with art and food at a family friendly event. \nHistoric Melrose Art in the Yard (AITY) held the first art event in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic. The event drew hundreds of people to explore the neighborhood. Based on this success and the demand for local art\, AITY has become a regular event. The December 8th AITY will be entirely outdoors and spread over several city blocks. \n“The Historic Melrose neighborhood is looking forward to welcoming visitors and supporting the local arts scene on December 8th\,” said Lila McCullough\, one of the event organizers. “We will showcase a wide variety of artists and artisans in yards throughout the neighborhood. DESCRIPTION:Richland One families can learn about the district’s magnet choice programs and the unique opportunities they offer students during the Magnet Choice Fair on Thursday\, December 12 from 5:30-7 p.m. in Crayton Middle School’s gymnasium (5000 Clemson Avenue\, Columbia\, SC 29206). \nFamilies have until Wednesday\, December 11 to register. Click here to access the registration form for the event. \nApplications for students to enroll in magnet choice programs for the 2025-2026 school year will open December 16. The application deadline is January 31\, 2025. \nRichland One’s magnet choice programs offer unique learning experiences for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The district’s programs include BLAST (Building Lasting Aerospace and STEM Trajectories) aerospace and national defense\, Montessori\, language immersion\, Medical Magnet Academy\, Health Sciences Magnet\, Richland One Middle College\, career magnets and virtual school programs for students in grades K-5 and 6-12. \nRichland One students are assigned to schools according to where they live. Parents may apply to enroll their children in a magnet program within the district through the choice program. All students who live in Richland One’s attendance zone are eligible for admission to the district’s magnet choice programs\, unless the program is designated as one that is zoned for certain attendance areas. \nAdmission is based on successful completion of the application process\, which may include attending an information session and meeting qualifying criteria.
