SUMMARY:Beyond the Waves: China’s Actions and Ambitions in the Pacific
DESCRIPTION:As the tides of global power shift\, the Pacific Islands have become the latest front in an intensifying competition between world powers. China’s growing presence in the region—through strategic investments\, military expansion\, and digital influence—has sparked both concern and curiosity among policymakers\, scholars\, and citizens alike. \nJoin us for Beyond the Waves: China’s Actions and Ambitions in the Pacific\, an eye-opening discussion led by Dr. Steven Sheffield\, a renowned expert in geopolitical strategy and international affairs. SUMMARY:Angels Charge - Reentry Simulation - Helping to learn about people released from Incarceration
DESCRIPTION:Angels Charge Ministry has been operating for 10 years with a Faith-Based Transitional Program. We help women from the Spartanburg County Detention and the 3 prisons for women in South Carolina. We help them start new lives after released from incarceration. If you don’t know much about us and the women we help\, you can go to our website: www.angelschargeministry.org \nWe are excited about having a Reentry Simulation on May 16th (10am – 12pm) at the TK Gregg Community Center (650 Howard St.\, 29303). We are lucky to have Professor Bianca Harris who teaches Criminal Justice at Meredith College in Raleigh\, NC. She has worked with many places in NC to set up Reentry Simulations. She’s coming to Spartanburg on May 16th and help us with our Reentry Simulation. \nHere is a brief description of what the Reentry Simulation is: \nThe event is divided into four 15-minute segments that each represent a week. Each participant is assigned an identity and a list of tasks to complete during the segment\, including seeking employment\, receiving healthcare\, meeting with their parole officers\, and more.  Participants face several obstacles during the simulation\, such as long wait times\, mistreatment\, and lack of resources. There are often only a few participants who successfully complete all their tasks\, demonstrating how difficult it can be for the formerly incarcerated to re-enter society.\nIf you want to come\, please send me your email and address so we can put you on our list. You can also share it with your friends\, churches and businesses. (manntheresa@aol.com / 864-680-1420) \n
