SUMMARY:The Flood - Solo Exhibition by Melissa Haviland
DESCRIPTION:Melissa Haviland’s The Flood draws on the long history of “bluing\,” a process in which blue dyes were added to paper and textiles to counteract yellowing which improved perceived quality of the material. From 15th-century European paper made from worn rags to the more modern blue-tinted laundry brighteners\, bluing has long suggested improvement\, and value—even when it only disguised what may lay beneath. \nIn The Flood\, Haviland reimagines this history through the lens of climate disaster. The towering\, immersive installations evoke the sensation of being swept away\, as if the ocean had flooded through the space. This work embodies both the chaos of everyday stresses\, bedtimes\, deadlines; and the immense weight of global crises: climate refugees\, rising seas\, water scarcity\, and environmental collapse. The blue in The Flood echoes the promise of enhancement\, even as we are submerged in questions of survival: how do we stay afloat? \nGreenville Center for Creative Arts affirms the importance of artistic freedom and the power of creative expression — including work that may provoke\, challenge\, or confront. This exhibition contains content that some viewers may find unsettling or emotionally intense. Viewer discretion is advised for all ages.

SUMMARY:Planning Ahead Together: Peace of Mind for Life's What-Ifs
DESCRIPTION:Crisis doesn’t send a calendar invite.\nIt shows up on an ordinary Wednesday — when the phone rings\, and everything changes. Suddenly\, you’re scrambling for passwords\, searching drawers for documents\, trying to remember which account pays the mortgage. The hospital is asking questions you don’t know how to answer. The bills keep coming. The dog still needs to be fed. And you’re realizing\, in real time\, that there was no plan. \nThat’s what crisis feels like — frantic\, confusing\, lonely\, and unfair. It’s the moment when “we’ll get to it someday” becomes today. \nBut planning ahead changes the story. It replaces panic with peace\, chaos with clarity\, and guilt with relief. A plan gives your family direction when everything else feels uncertain. \nLet’s make sure that when life takes a turn\, your loved ones don’t have to guess what comes next. Join us next Wednesday 15th from 12–1pm — virtually — and take the first step toward replacing crisis with confidence. \n👉 https://lawyerlisa.com/events
