SUMMARY:Conservation Lecture Series: Campbell's Alligator Lizard
DESCRIPTION:Topic: Campbell’s Alligator Lizard \nDiscover how Guatemalan conservationists\, with support from the Greenville Zoo Conservation Grant\, are tracking one of the world’s rarest lizards high in the cloud forests of Guatemala. Using tiny radio transmitters\, scientists follow the daily movements of the Campbell’s alligator lizard to understand how it uses the forest and how tree loss makes survival harder for this species. This research helps guide a comprehensive conservation program that combines habitat protection and restoration with environmental education and community involvement\, giving this remarkable lizard a better chance for the future. \nSpeaker: Thomas Schrei – Foundation for the Endangered Species of Guatemala \nThomas Schrei is a Guatemalan biologist and the Field Director of the Foundation for the Endangered Species of Guatemala (FUNDESGUA). His work focuses on the conservation of threatened reptiles through field research\, habitat protection and restoration\, and environmental education. As part of FUNDESGUA\, he works with local communities and international partners to develop long-term conservation strategies in Guatemala’s forests. \nDetails: \n\nWhen: Tuesday\, February 24th at 7pm\nWhere: ZOOM\nPrice: FREE\nTo Join:\n\nVisit https://zoom.us/join\nEnter Zoom Meeting ID: 862-872-9123\nEnter Zoom Password: ZOOZOOM
