In-Town “Green” Homes Featured on Tour
May 13, 2009COLUMBIA, SC – May 13, 2009 – The Columbia Housing Authority, along with Gary Realty, is pleased to announce the Rosewood Hills Spring Home Show to be held Saturday, May 16th from 10 am until 2 pm. Up to eight model homes will be open to tour and venders will be on-site to pre-qualify buyers.
With homes from the $170s, Rosewoods Hills is classified a green community with LEED for Home Certified and Energy Star-rated houses – the only such community in the City of Columbia. Claude St. Hilaire of the Home Energy Group hails Rosewood Hills as “the most unique and trend-setting community in the state of South Carolina. Mungo Construction (the builder) has transformed green building by involving the trades and connecting energy-efficiency and green product upgrades, ultimately resulting in lower utility bills and living in a more comfortable house with improved air quality.”
Hilaire says that the impact on the community is huge. “The money the home owner saves with water and energy conservation is being pumped into the community, which stimulates the local economy.”
The community also offers solar-powered wireless Internet service.
Located on Rosewood Drive overlooking Williams Brice Stadium, the Rosewood Hills community consists of 60 single-family detached for-sale units, 22 single-family attached rental units and 32 attached town homes.
At the home show, insurance representatives will have home owner information, and Richland School District One representatives will have information on the award-winning area schools. Lunch will be served; there is no cost to attend.
