The Career Counselor provides career development support to students and alumni of USC Upstate.
• Assist with writing and revising resumes, cover letters, and personal statements and assist students and alumni with interview preparation.
• Utilize software (Handshake, Big Interview, Focus 2, Starfish, MBTI) to engage students with regular communication regarding internships, upcoming events, employment opportunities, interviewing, and career exploration
• Initiate and build mutually beneficial partnerships with employers to develop opportunities for students and alumni and promote Handshake as a regular means of connecting all stakeholders.
• Conduct workshops; organize employer and grad school events; and facilitate classroom presentations
• Provide additional oversight for the Career Closet, including inventory management, tracking, processing donations, tax receipting, and scheduling of coverage with student employees.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Student Career Coaches and ensure sufficient office coverage during business hours.
• Assist with regular tracking/data collection and participate in all monthly and annual reporting of individual/departmental activities.
• Other duties as needed to support department and university initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in Student Services or related field and 1 year related experience, or bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience. A successful background check is required.

Additional hours in the evening or weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications: A Master’s and/or prior experience working in career services or human resources.

Salary: $37,128 – $40,064; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
