The City of Clinton is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Permit Clerk/Receptionist in the Department of Building, Planning, & Zoning. Under general supervision, the Permit Clerk/Receptionist performs various administrative, technical, and clerical duties for the Building, Inspections, and Zoning Department and the Bailey Municipal Building Administrative Department. Provides assistance to visitors, business contacts, and the public at the front reception center and on the telephone. Provides telephone assistance for other departments when necessary. Approves and issue contractor business licenses, calculates and issue building and zoning permits. Devises and maintains a permanent record keeping and retrieval system for building permits and commercial plans. Approves and issue business licenses in accordance with state, local ordinances, building codes, and zoning. Receives payment and fees. Balances cash sheet. Compiles, sorts, and verifies invoices. Creates computer spreadsheets, checklists, charts, letters, memos, etc. as needed to efficiently perform job requirements. Reports to the Chief Building Official (CBO).
