Public Relations Coordinator

GMC is looking for a public relations coordinator to join our Corporate Communications team. The PR Coordinator will help create and maintain a positive public image for the firm throughout the Southeast. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and to work with all of our offices and disciplines to share GMC’s mission of “building communities.”

Job responsibilities
• Directly support and promote our brand, mission, and reputation through storytelling and comprehensive communications strategies
• Coordinate external communication planning and strategy, focusing on critical priority areas for GMC’s geographic locations and disciplines.
• Develop stories that resonate with target audience(s) while developing and implementing a proactive media strategy (across all markets) to generate positive awareness of GMC
• Collaborate with others (including external partners) on the development, review, editing and deployment of external communications materials
• Create content for external communication channels including digital, video, social and other new media tools and platforms. Ensure a consistent and clear strategy and vision across all channels.
• Media relations: write and distribute press releases; craft media pitches, develop media materials, etc.
• Leverage and build relationships with local and national business/industry publications.
• Monitor, track and analyze the impact of and responses to communication.
• Work with department leaders to develop articles and white papers to showcase firm expertise and thought leadership
• Coordinate with clients and external partners to promote projects, events, etc.
• Assist with development and implementation of social media campaigns
• Manage special projects as needed
• Assist with internal communications efforts

Qualifications
• 2-5 years of relevant professional experience
• Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, or other relevant field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working in the architecture, engineering and construction industry, or with a PR agency is a plus, but not required
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment
• Highly detailed, creative, collaborative and resourceful
• Knowledge of social media and media relations monitoring software is a plus
• Some travel required
