March 26, 2009

COLUMBIA, SC – March 26, 2009 – In today’s tight economy, career training for in-demand fields is more important than ever. Displaced workers and high school graduates alike must prepare for the jobs of the future, and Midlands Technical College is uniquely equipped for that task.

To help students learn more about these opportunities, Midlands Technical College is hosting Spring Open House on Saturday, April 4, on the Beltline Campus from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event will allow students, parents and community members to explore college programs; tour the Beltline Campus; and interact with faculty, staff and current students.

At Open House, prospective students will be able to complete free college applications and placement tests and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Information sessions will be held for middle and high school students, parents, educators and community members. Personnel from MTC’s Veterans Affairs office will also be there to discuss educational benefits available to veterans, active-duty military and their qualified family members.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department will be providing free Kid Print IDs, which provide parents with a copy of their child’s fingerprints, an identification picture, and statistical information about their child for use in emergency situations.
