Nuclear Industry Supplier Seminar

CHARLOTTE, NC – July 9, 2009 – The nuclear energy industry is getting ready to grow, and the Carolinas Nuclear Cluster – a team-effort of 27 organizations, is responding. There can be opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises to be part of the planning, construction and operation of the power facilities. The nuclear industry has detailed specifications for its suppliers. Knowing those details are critical to success.

What kind of firms could be possible suppliers in the nuclear renaissance and can benefit from this short seminar:

  • MANUFACTURERS: Pipe, valves, fittings, electrical systems, HVAC, construction materials.
  • SERVICES: Electrical/mechanical/HVAC maintenance, waste, clean-up, office maintenance, hazmat, painters, radiological protection, quality control, lab.

A short session about product and service procurement in the nuclear industry in the Carolinas will be held JULY 9 from 9:00 – 11:30 in Southwest Charlotte, at the Siemens Energy, Inc. Turbine Plant, 5101 Westinghouse Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28273.

A brief, optional tour of the turbine facility may be available to a limited number of attendees after the seminar. Siemens reserves the right to select tour members. Note that safety requirements are that closed-toed shoes are worn in the plant; appropriate personal safety items, such as eye shields, are required and will be supplied.
