DESCRIPTION:The Charleston Jazz Orchestra presents an evening of hard bop! This highly energetic and rhythmic style of jazz music emerged in the 1950s as an extension of bebop’s blazing speed and a reaction to the softer\, more mellow tones of cool jazz. Its creators sought after down-home\, soulful grit\, and its bluesy licks and rhythms made it a notable facet of jazz history. \nArt Blakey’s Jazz Messengers were hard bop’s frontrunners.
