SUMMARY:Women in the American Revolution Lecture
DESCRIPTION:The courage and sacrifices of women during the American Revolutionary War will be the focus of an upcoming lecture at the Laurens County Museum. Historian and battlefield preservationist Durant Ashmore will present “The Women of the American Revolution” on Thursday\, March 6\, at 7:00 p.m. as part of his ongoing Revolutionary War series. \nThe public is invited to attend. Admission is free for museum members and all youth\, while a $5 suggested donation is encouraged for other attendees to support the museum’s educational efforts. The Laurens County Museum is located at 116 South Public Square in Laurens. \nAshmore’s presentation will shed light on the often-overlooked role of women during the Revolutionary War\, many of whom faced hardship\, danger\, and the destruction of their homes and livelihoods. Some actively supported the Patriot cause\, engaging in heroic acts of defiance and sacrifice\, while others remained loyal to the Crown\, enduring their own set of challenges. Ashmore will explore their contributions and the impact they had on America’s fight for independence. \nThe Laurens County Museum is a non-profit membership association dedicated to preserving and sharing the region’s rich history.
