SUMMARY:Come From Away at Town Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Even in the darkest moments\, people have an extraordinary capacity for kindness. On September 11\, 2001\, U.S. airspace was closed\, leaving thousands of passengers on 38 planes unexpectedly grounded in the small town of Gander\, Newfoundland. The result? A true story of strangers opening their homes\, and their hearts\, to people from around the world. Filled with stirring music\, humor and hope\, Come From Away is a reminder that\, even in times of tragedy\, kindness can unite. \nWhile audiences may come expecting a story about a day that changed the world\, what they discover is something much more personal. Come From Away celebrates the generosity\, resilience and unexpected friendships that blossomed over five unforgettable days. It is a story of ordinary people doing extraordinary things\, not because they had to\, but because it was simply the right thing to do. \nTown Theatre is especially honored to open its 107th Season with this remarkable musical. At a time when the world often feels divided\, Come From Away reminds us of what can happen when compassion takes center stage. The production’s fast-paced storytelling\, inventive staging and soaring folk-inspired score invite audiences to laugh\, reflect and celebrate the enduring power of community. \nWhether you know the story by heart or are experiencing it for the first time\, Town Theatre’s Come From Away offers an unforgettable evening of theatre. \nCome From Away is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

SUMMARY:Anything Goes at Town Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Prepare to embark on a high-seas adventure as Town Theatre proudly presents the timeless classic\, Anything Goes. This vibrant\, toe-tapping musical promises a voyage filled with laughter\, romance and Cole Porter’s unforgettable melodies. \nAt the ship’s helm as Reno Sweeney is Rebecca Seezen (Mamma Mia!)\, who pals around with best friend Billy Crocker\, played by Aydan Wunderlich (Into the Woods). Billy is in love with debutante Hope Harcourt\, portrayed by Alex Carrico (Jekyll & Hyde)\, but she is betrothed to the quirky Lord Evelyn Oakleigh\, brought to life by David LaTorre (Beautiful). Complicating matters is Hope’s mother\, Mrs. Evangeline Harcourt\, entangled in her own romance with the imbibing and sometimes imbecilic Eli Whitney. Kathy Hartzog (Driving Miss Daisy) and Bill DeWitt (Moon Over Buffalo) take on this comedic duo. Add to the mix gangster Moonface Martin and his sidekick Erma\, played by Scott Vaughan (The Music Man) and Maggie Baker (The All Night Strut!)\, and you’re sure to find yourself enjoying the voyage on the S.S. American\, where anything—and we mean anything—goes. \nThe crew is shipshape with our Captain\, played by Chip Collins (The Play That Goes Wrong)\, and his Purser\, Todd Gustafson (The Wizard of Oz). Ensuring things are tip-top on board are our sailors: Liam Amil and Richard Fisher (both from Beauty and the Beast)\, Jack Bingham (Something Rotten)\, Jack Seezen (Les Mis: Student Edition)\, Jackson Wright (Newsies Jr.)\, and newcomers Benjamin Connelly and Braylen Hinton. Ashley Epperson (42nd Street)\, Kristy O’Keefe Satterwhite (Mamma Mia!)\, Kendall Scruggs (The Music Man)\, and Jenna Sweeney (The Sound of Music) bring a healthy dose of “hallelujah” as Reno’s Angels. Stirring up trouble are two New York kleptomaniac swindlers\, Spit and Dippy\, taken by Kameron Carpenter and Joey Weaver (both from Something Rotten). Carly Grosse\, Lexi Narry and Leah Tudor ascend the gangplank from the holiday hit White Christmas. Agnes Babb\, Lisa Baker\, Taryn Davis and Christy Shealy Mills journey to the ship via The Wizard of Oz’s yellow brick road. Eliza England and Abby Gamble depart the barricade of Les Mis: Student Edition\, while McKinley Porth and Sara Slaughter leave the renaissance of Something Rotten to join the ship’s manifest. Our journey would not be complete without welcoming a new Town voyager Dayna Arnett. Plus\, it’s all hands on deck with cameo appearances by Bill Bentley and Michael Seezen (both from The Play That Goes Wrong). Anchors aweigh with Anything Goes! \nAnything Goes runs from September 6-22\, with performances at 7:30 PM on Thursdays to Saturdays and 3:00 PM Sunday matinees. SUMMARY:Something Rotten the Musical
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Renaissance! Don’t miss this hilarious musical following the Bottom brothers\, Nick and Nigel\, struggling playwrights trying to make a name for themselves in the shadow of William Shakespeare. When a local soothsayer tells the brothers that the future of theatre involves singing and dancing\, they decide to create the world’s first musical. Amidst the excitement of opening night\, Nick and Nigel find true power in following their dreams\, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable odds. \nTown’s stinky cast is led by Paul Lindley (Shrek) and Von Huber (The Play That Goes Wrong) as Nick and Nigel Bottom. Their rival and inspiration\, William Shakespeare\, is taken by Anthony Matrejek (Nice Work if You Can Get It). Bea\, Nick’s wife\, is in the capable hands of Roxanne Rich (42nd Street) while Portia\, Nigel’s love interest\, is taken by Caroline Quinn (Grease). David LaTorre (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) sets the plot in motion as Nostradamus with James Galluzzo (Tarzan) providing some opposition as Brother Jeremiah. \nThis show could not happen without the ensemble who takes on a variety of roles – even dancing eggs. Audiences will remember Taryn Wilhoit Davis\, Mathew Eberhardt\, Nicholas Eberhardt and Avery McCree all from A Christmas Story: The Musical\, and Elizabeth Rawson and Alyssa Wilson from Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Also appearing is Chauntel Bland (Beauty and the Beast)\, Zanna Mills (Bright Star) and Katie Gatch (Catch Me if You Can). Mary Jayne Davis\, Meg Greeley\, James Nolan\, Grayson Norene\, McKinley Porth and Lee Saxton hand jive their way over from Grease. Aydan Wunderlich (Into the Woods)\, Steve Wrona (Jekyll & Hyde)\, Robin Blume (Mary Poppins)\, Leah Tudor (Arsenic and Old Lace) and Joey Weaver (Hello\, Dolly!) take the Town stage once again. Maggie Baker and Nathan Jackson bring their A-game from The All Night Strut while Carly Grosse and Ivy Munnerlyn are some of our favorite things from The Sound of Music. Connor Etcheson and Katie Sawicki followed the yellow brick road from The Wizard of Oz with Agnes Babb\, Nathan Dawson and Richard Fisher back on the stage after wrapping White Christmas. And we welcome our new faces to the theatre: Michael Adams\, Kameron Carpenter\, Alex Fossum\, Chris Matney\, William Alexander Milhouse\, Maria Siepel\, Jeff Sigley\, Sara Slaughter and Julia Turner. \nSomething Rotten runs May 10-25 with 7:30 PM performances Thursdays through Saturdays and 3:00 PM Sunday matinees. Tickets are available at towntheatre.com or by calling 803-799-2510. \nThis musical includes adult situations and some language. Rated PG-13.

But amidst the excitement of opening night\, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self…and all that jazz. \nThis show is directed by Jamie Carr Harrington\, with musical direction by Amanda Hines Wrona and choreography by Christy Shealy Mills. Performances are May 10-25\, 2024. Rehearsals are expected to begin the last week in February. \nPlease join us for auditions on Sunday\, January 21 or Monday\, January 22 at 7:30 PM. \nAuditionees should plan to attend ONE night of auditions which will be held at the theatre. SUMMARY:Moon Over Buffalo at Town Theatre
DESCRIPTION:It’s 1953 in Buffalo where actors\, George and Charlotte Hay\, are fading faster than a New York minute. Their struggle to keep their name in lights has them performing Cyrano de Bergerac and Private Lives in tandem on the repertory theatre circuit. If fighting for their professional survival wasn’t enough\, their marriage is on a downward slope. And\, making matters even more desperate\, their daughter is soon to marry outside of the land of thespians as she is engaged to\, of all walks of life\, a WEATHER MAN. There seems to be a break in the storm\, however\, when word arrives that a Hollywood director is coming to see their performances. Will the band of performers be able to change their course? \nTaking the stage as George and Charlotte Hay are Town’s own version of the Lunts\, are Bill DeWitt (Baskerville\, White Christmas) and Kathy Hartzog (Driving Miss Daisy\, Always… Patsy Cline). Colorful characters joining the Hays in the green room of the Erlanger Theatre include Charlotte’s hard of hearing mother\, Ethel\, taken by Karen Herschell (The Red Velvet Cake War\, My Fair Lady). Their daughter Rosalind\, former actress-seeking-a- “real-world-job\,” is played by Allison Allgood (The Game’s Afoot\, A Christmas Carol). She is engaged to David LaTorre (The Wizard of Oz\, Bright Star)\, the rather nervous and excitable forecaster. Company manager Paul\, who happens to be in love with Rosalind\, is portrayed by Joel Yarborough (Mamma Mia\, Spamalot). What farce would be complete without a little scandal? Ours is courtesy of the ingénue Eileen\, taken by Zanna Mills (The Play That Goes Wrong\, The Music Man) and the Hay’s lawyer\, Richard\, in the hands of Steve Reeves (The Odd Couple\, Arsenic and Old Lace). \nIf you enjoy a good belly laugh\, Moon Over Buffalo is sure to hit the mark. If you’re an actor\, have even been on the stage\, or one day aspire to take a turn on the boards\, then you’ll love it even more. This comedy classic represents (some) of the ridiculousness of those entrenched in the world of theatre. \nThe show runs January 19-28 with 7:30 PM performances Thursdays through Saturdays and 3:00 PM Sunday matinees. Visit towntheatre.com for details. \nMoon Over Buffalo is directed by Allison McNeely. Dell Goodrich serves as costumer with set design by Bob Branham\, light design by Jeremy Hansard and stage management from Kerry McGregor. The show is generously sponsored by Genesis Studios and Total Comfort Solutions.

SUMMARY:The Sound of Music at Town Theatre
DESCRIPTION:“Let’s start at the very beginning… a very good place to start!” Don’t miss the kickoff to Town Theatre’s 104th season with The Sound of Music. When postulant Maria Rainer proves too high-spirited for the religious life\, she is sent to serve as a governess for the seven von Trapp children. Her rapport grows with the children as she encourages them to put aside their uniforms and marching for a life filled with music and love. Her fondness also grows for their father\, a widowed Captain\, which leaves Maria to struggle between her calling to become a Nun and her desire to be a wife. \nAt the ship’s helm is Tracy Steele (Elf\, A Christmas Story) as Captain Georg von Trapp. Following his military-like family rules\, or so he thinks\, are his seven children (actually 14 with this production’s dual casts of children). Molly Adams\, Gemma Burkett\, Mary Jayne Davis\, Hudson Freeman\, Carly Grosse\, Zachary Hammond\, Olivia Hite\, Benjamin McIver\, Porsha Owen\, Brooke Rowe\, Emily Smith\, Lacie Walko\, Sadie Way and Jackson Wright alternate as stars of the Von Trapp brood. \nThe role of Maria is taken by Ivy Munnerlyn (24 Hour Musical). Town newcomer Becky Loar brings wisdom and guidance as the Mother Abbess with Ashley Alvarado (Jekyll & Hyde) and Joel Yarborough (The Music Man) adding dimension as the filthy rich baroness Elas Schraeder and greedy Uncle Max. \nTown is certainly alive with The Sound of Music! \nThe show runs September 8-24 with 7:30 PM performances Thursdays through Saturdays and 3:00 PM Sunday matinees. Tickets go on sale to the public Monday\, August 28. Visit towntheatre.com for details. \nThe Sound of Music is directed by Jane Cato\, with musical direction by Michael Simmons and choreography by Katie Hilliger Page. Billy Bishop serves as costumer with set design by Bob Branham\, light design by Jeremy Hansard and stage management from Chelsey Art. The Sound of Music is generously sponsored by Bilt Rite Overhead Garage Door and Willis Tax & Accounting.

SUMMARY:Broadway: Limited Exposure
DESCRIPTION:Town Theatre Announces the Continuation of its 101st Season \nOne year ago\, we hit “pause” on our 101st season due to the COVID crisis. Between then and now\, the theatre was fortunate to find ways to remain engaged and active despite the moratorium on live theatre. In October 2020\, we completed the run of Mary Poppins. We welcomed actors and audiences after implementing stringent COVID guidelines including installation of air filtration systems\, limiting audience capacity\, and putting into practice a hospital-grade disinfectant protocol. We are excited that it is time to start again! \nBROADWAY: Limited Exposure will run April 16-18. Though we know that COVID could force us to change our plans without notice\, we will move forward working according to CDC guidelines for the safety of our patrons\, staff and volunteers. \nBROADWAY: Limited Exposure\nFriday\, April 16 at 7:30 PM\nSaturday\, April 17 at 7:30 PM\nSunday\, April 18 at 3:00 PM \n*virtual streaming options available \nAbout the show:\nBROADWAY: Limited Exposure delivers a unique perspective to the pandemic that we have faced during the past year. As our emcee\, Bill DeWitt (My Fair Lady)\, will reminisce and even poke a little fun at some of the realities of living in the times of COVID. Not to be outdone\, Kathy Hartzog (Driving Miss Daisy) will add her typical special touch of humor. Scott Vaughan (Willy Wonka)\, Sheldon Paschal (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and Kathy Seppamaki (Nice Work if You Can Get It) bring their powerhouse voices to the stage. Clayton King (Mamma Mia)\, Hannah Thompson (Into the Woods) and Lanny Spires (Newsies) will delight with poignant moments through songs that touch the heart. \nAdding the married couples’ viewpoints are Adam & Jillian Bigony (both of Beauty and the Beast) and Chip & Cortlin Collins (Million Dollar Quartet; South Pacific\, respectively). And joining us from the cast of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder are Heather Hinson and Virginia Walker. Audiences will also enjoy Kerri Roberts (Mary Poppins)\, Billy Bishop (Matilda) and members of the Town Teen Troupe who will pop in to share some of their beautiful vocals. Michael Simmons (creator of Home for the Holidays and Broadway Under the Covers) has crafted this unique musical opportunity that we know you will enjoy! \nSpecial show notes:\n• The box office is open 12 noon to 5 PM weekdays. Prior to April 12\, Members may reserve tickets online via the special link OR may call the box office at 803-799-2510. Non-members may get tickets beginning Monday\, April 12. Tickets are $15 – $25.\n• There will be a streaming option for this show which you can also access with your member ticket or a paid cash ticket.
