Slow Dancing to Launch in Marion Square – May 27

WHAT: Due to inclement weather in Charleston and for the safety of all involved, the opening of Slow Dancing will be moved to Saturday, May 27, at 8:45pm.

Mayor John Tecklenburg, Executive Vice President of Wells Fargo Phillip D. Smith, and artist David Michalek will provide remarks prior to the official launch Michalek’s Slow Dancing in Marion Square to celebrate the Festival’s 41st season. Sponsored by Wells Fargo as a gift to the community, the large-scale video exhibition—including three five-story screens—will be set up nearest the corner of King and Calhoun streets, and run continuously from 9:00pm to 11:00pmeach evening from May 27 to June 8. The exhibit will be free for all passersby. Additional support for Slow Dancing provided by the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.
