US Dept of Homeland Security to Discuss E-Verify for Immigration Status Eligibility
March 31, 2009COLUMBIA, SC – March 30, 2009 – Representatives from the United States Department of Homeland Security and the United States Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services will be hosting an information meeting about the federal government’s E-Verify program. E-Verify (formerly the Basic Pilot/Employment Eligibility Verification Program) is an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA) and is one of two forms of employment eligibility verification that employers can use under South Carolina’s new Immigration Law, which begins taking effect on July 1, 2009.
