USC Photovoice project highlights strengths, struggles of students with disabilities

March 26, 2009

The University of South Carolina’s Photovoice project will hold a reception and program highlighting the photography and creative writing of students with disabilities from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, at the Russell House University Union ballroom.

The event, free and open to the public, will feature the works of eight students and a recent alumnus who participated in the university’s project during the academic year.

Photovoice uses photographs to bring about social action and change or to raise awareness about specific issues.

After the public display, the photographs will continue to be displayed in the offices of Student Disability Services and Campus Wellness.

The event is sponsored by the university’s Campus Wellness, Student Disability Services, Arts Institute and English and art departments.
