Carmel Missionary Baptist Church – 3505 Jackson Village Road. \nJohnny Morant was a long-time member of Georgetown County Council\, and he served as its chairman from 2008 until his retirement in 2018. He was dedicated to improving the quality of life in some of the county’s more rural areas\, which included bringing sewer access to communities in Browns Ferry\, Choppee\, Annie Village and Plantersville. Morant and his brother were partners in the law firm of Morant and Morant\, LLC\, of Georgetown. \nHe died in July of 2020\, at the age of 69.

DESCRIPTION:This annual fundraiser hosted by the Friends of the Georgetown Library features 12 beautiful residences in and around Georgetown’s Historic District decorated in holiday finery and open for visiting. In addition\, two venerable houses of worship will open their doors to tour participants\, as well as four outstanding Georgetown museums: the Georgetown County Museum\, the Gullah Museum\, the South Carolina Maritime Museum\, and the Kaminski House Museum.  \nIt’s a fun day for a great cause: supporting the Georgetown Library. Tickets for the Tour are still $25 per person/$20 for members of Friends groups of any of the Georgetown County libraries. SUMMARY:Connect Lake Greenwood Announces Fireworks “Re-Do” on Labor Day Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Connect Lake Greenwood (CLG) is set to light up the skies once again with a special “Re-Do” fireworks display on Saturday\, August 31\, 2024. The original event on July 6th went ahead as planned\, but weather conditions made for a less-than-ideal experience. Now\, CLG invites the community to celebrate Labor Day weekend with a refreshed and spectacular fireworks show. \nThe display will take place at dark\, with an estimated start time between 8:30 and 8:45 p.m. The fireworks can be best enjoyed by boat\, as they will be launched from a site in front of Fellowship Camp & Conference Center. \nHowever\, due to a prior commitment\, Fellowship Camp and Conference Center will not offer public access or parking during this event. The center has a private event scheduled on the same evening and\, therefore\, cannot accommodate the public on its grounds. \nBoaters and spectators are encouraged to find their perfect viewing spot on the water for an unforgettable evening of fireworks to close out the summer.
