DESCRIPTION:The Historic Melrose Art in the Yard will once again welcome artists and artisans to show and sell their original work in the historic\, downtown Columbia neighborhood. The event will be held on Sunday\, December 8\, 2024\, from 1 to 5 pm with art and food at a family friendly event. \nHistoric Melrose Art in the Yard (AITY) held the first art event in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic. The event drew hundreds of people to explore the neighborhood. Based on this success and the demand for local art\, AITY has become a regular event. The December 8th AITY will be entirely outdoors and spread over several city blocks. \n“The Historic Melrose neighborhood is looking forward to welcoming visitors and supporting the local arts scene on December 8th\,” said Lila McCullough\, one of the event organizers. “We will showcase a wide variety of artists and artisans in yards throughout the neighborhood. We expect to have close to 100 artists as well as a number of food trucks too\,” said McCullough. \nInformation and maps will be available on Facebook and Instagram. \n

SUMMARY:MGC Long Run 2023
DESCRIPTION:The MGC Long Run returns after a two-year hiatus to Columbia\, South Carolina on Saturday\, February 4 for its eighth year. Net proceeds will benefit the USO South Carolina\, an organization whose mission is to strengthen America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family\, home and country\, throughout their service to the nation. \nThe MGC Long Run has a race for everyone–15k Road Race\, 5k Run/Walk\, Virtual 5k and a half-mile Kids’ Fun Run. The races will begin and end at Columbia Craft Brewing Company located in The Vista of downtown Columbia. Runners\, walkers\, volunteers and spectators are encouraged to join the family-friendly race party taking place at Columbia Craft Brewing Company following the races. \nThe MGC Long Run is presented by McAngus Goudelock & Courie (MGC)\, a metrics-driven law firm built specifically to serve the insurance industry\, their insureds and self-insureds. The firm is headquartered in Columbia\, South Carolina with offices across Georgia\, Mississippi\, New York\, North Carolina\, Pennsylvania\, South Carolina\, Tennessee and Virginia. MGC launched the inaugural Long Run in 2014 as a way to give back to the Midlands community where the firm was founded. \nThe MGC Long Run 15k route features three cities and two bridges. Runners will experience a race that goes through downtown Columbia\, West Columbia and Cayce\, crossing both the Gervais Street and Blossom Street bridges. The Not-so-Long-Run 5k route takes runners and walkers through the historic district of downtown Columbia. The MGC Long Run will also feature a party with complimentary food and beverages provided by PDQ\, Columbia Craft Brewing Company and Starbucks\, as well as a live DJ. \nAdditional MGC Long Run sponsors include McAngus Goudelock & Courie\, Midlands Orthopaedics\, P.A.\, Office Depot and Synovus\, among others.
