DESCRIPTION:Main Street Laurens will host Taste of Laurens on Friday\, Sept. 25\, from 6 to 9 p.m.\, an evening built around the food\, businesses and people that give the city its character. \nThe event centers on the Taste of Laurens Passport\, which gives ticket holders access to participating businesses in and around the Square. Each stop will offer a signature bite\, sample\, drink\, shopping special\, activity or experience\, giving guests a range of ways to spend the evening. \n“This is a night to discover what’s right here at home\,” said Brad Abercrombie\, director of Main Street Laurens. “One passport gets you into shops and restaurants you may walk past every day\, and by the end of the evening you have tasted\, shopped and experienced a whole side of Laurens you might not have seen before.” \nParticipation is not limited to the Square. Businesses from across Laurens are bringing their offerings downtown for the night\, and organizers are still welcoming additional participants. \n“We have businesses from all over the county coming in to set up around the Square\, and we are still adding to the list\,” Abercrombie said. “Grab your friends\, make it a date night or bring the whole family. There are so many ways to experience it.” \nThe format is designed to work for a variety of groups\, and one passport covers multiple stops throughout the three hours. \nTickets are on sale now at $25 per person and are available online through the Main Street Laurens website\, mainstreetlaurens.org.

DESCRIPTION:Main Street Clinton is launching a new community service initiative to help beautify and enhance the city’s historic downtown district. Starting this Saturday\, March 8\, volunteers are invited to join Second Saturday Service\, a monthly opportunity for community members to come together and tackle cleanup and improvement projects. \nThe first Second Saturday Service event begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Depot\, with volunteers working from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on projects including trash pickup\, street sign straightening\, and\, if enough volunteers participate\, a cleanup of Wall Street. The goal is to kick off the season with simple\, impactful tasks while encouraging residents to take pride in their downtown. \n“We are so excited to launch this initiative and get the community involved in caring for our beautiful downtown\,” said Susan Tallman\, board chair of Main Street Clinton and a realtor with Berkshire Hathaway in Clinton. “When we work together\, even small efforts make a big difference.” \nThe Second Saturday Service will continue on the second Saturday of each month from March through October\, with projects evolving based on weather and community input. DESCRIPTION:The City of Laurens invites all residents and visitors to join in a Memorial Ceremony on May 27th\, 2024\, at 11:00 AM at the City Plaza. This event is an opportunity for the community to come together and honor the brave men and women who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. \nHeld at the heart of Laurens\, the City Plaza will serve as a fitting backdrop for a day of remembrance and gratitude. The ceremony aims to provide a space for reflection\, recognition\, and unity\, as we pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our military heroes. \nThe ceremony will include prayers\, a few remarks\, and the laying of a wreath at the base of the flags of each of our service branches in memory of those who gave their lives for their nation. It will be a brief but meaningful event\, allowing families to gather and honor the fallen without losing sight of the day’s true significance. \nThis is the second year this event has been held\, at least in many years. Last year Randy Stevens\, who recently passed away\, met with Mayor Senn\, and together they organized a simple ceremony that could be led without requiring city employees to work on the holiday. With the help of Pastor Ronnie Cole of Faith Baptist Church and Rev. Mike McCracken of First Presbyterian\, a brief but impactful ceremony was created that resonated with all who attended. \nThe community is encouraged to bring their families\, especially children\, to learn the importance and meaning of Memorial Day. “Memorial Day is a time for us to come together as a community to show our deep appreciation for those who have given their lives in service to our country\,” said Mayor Senn. “Let’s honor their memory with our presence and our respect.” He added\, “It’s important for the younger generations to understand the sacrifices made for our freedoms\, and this ceremony is a poignant way to educate and remember.” \nTogether\, we can ensure that the legacy of our fallen heroes is never forgotten.
