This event is an opportunity for the community to come together and honor the brave men and women who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. \nHeld at the heart of Laurens\, the City Plaza will serve as a fitting backdrop for a day of remembrance and gratitude. The ceremony aims to provide a space for reflection\, recognition\, and unity\, as we pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our military heroes. \nThe ceremony will include prayers\, a few remarks\, and the laying of a wreath at the base of the flags of each of our service branches in memory of those who gave their lives for their nation. It will be a brief but meaningful event\, allowing families to gather and honor the fallen without losing sight of the day’s true significance. \nThis is the second year this event has been held\, at least in many years. Last year Randy Stevens\, who recently passed away\, met with Mayor Senn\, and together they organized a simple ceremony that could be led without requiring city employees to work on the holiday. With the help of Pastor Ronnie Cole of Faith Baptist Church and Rev. Mike McCracken of First Presbyterian\, a brief but impactful ceremony was created that resonated with all who attended. \nThe community is encouraged to bring their families\, especially children\, to learn the importance and meaning of Memorial Day. “Memorial Day is a time for us to come together as a community to show our deep appreciation for those who have given their lives in service to our country\,” said Mayor Senn. “Let’s honor their memory with our presence and our respect.” He added\, “It’s important for the younger generations to understand the sacrifices made for our freedoms\, and this ceremony is a poignant way to educate and remember.” \nTogether\, we can ensure that the legacy of our fallen heroes is never forgotten.

Auditions will be held during the first two weeks in September\, and the ten lucky finalists will perform at the Rhythms on the Rails on Friday\, September 22\, to compete for the $1\,000 First Place Winner. There will also be 2nd and 3rd place prizes awarded. \nWe have a lot of shining stars in our community\, and it is time to come forth and showcase your special talent. \nThe application forms are available at the MS Bailey Municipal Center. There is a $20 entry fee to help cover costs and encourage our talented stars to participate in this great event. SUMMARY:Rhythm on the Rails
DESCRIPTION:Rhythm on the Rails will be taking place on October 22\, 2022 from 10 AM to 10 PM. It will be in conjunction with the annual Smokin’ on the Rails Southern BBQ Network competition\, which will start Friday October 21\, 2022\, and continuing through the night to October 22\, 2022. So come out Friday night and get some great BBQ. Rhythm on the Rails will have food vendors\, arts and crafts\, free rides\, and music. The morning will start up with free rides starting at 10 AM and continuing throughout the day until 8 PM. Food\, Art\, and Craft Vendors will start up at 10 AM and will be selling many different things throughout the festival. Come start that Christmas shopping early. Come out and enjoy the Laurens County Cruisers Car Show. Make sure you bring your lawn chair for a great evening of music\, too. Music will kick off at noon on the Clinton Newberry Natural Gas Authority Music Stage with Dazr. Dazr is an American rock band from Clemson\, SC. Their influences are 70’s and 80’s rock bands such as Van Halen\, Led Zeppelin\, ACDC\, Rush\, Aerosmith\, and more! After rocking out\, cool down with the sweet music of your Scottish and Irish Heritage with Wild Blue Yonder at 3 PM. Wild Blue Yonder is from the hills of the British Isles to the peaks of the Appalachians\, music of the mountains has traveled through hearts\, hands and miles over centuries. Wild Blue Yonder carries on the tradition with fiddle\, whistles\, old-time banjo\, mandolin and warm harmony vocals\, bringing fresh voice to ancient melodies. After enjoying the cool mountain tones get down and dirty with R and B\, Phazar Band and Show at 5:45 PM. Phazar Band and Show performs a variety of 70’s to 90’s R&B. Come tap your foot or get up and dance with Phazar. After a trip down memory lane\, get your air guitars ready and put on your pin-stripe mustaches for Purple Masquerade at 8:15 PM. Purple Masquerade is a high performance celebration of an icon “Prince”. They put on a high-energy concert\, performing Prince greatest hits songs. Have a fun filled day with the City of Clinton.
