DESCRIPTION:Lexington’s Old Mill Pond Trail | April 19\, 2025 | 4:00 – 8:30 p.m. \nOn April 19\, 2025\, from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m.\, history comes to life at Lexington’s Old Mill Pond Trail as the community is invited to gather for “The Shot Heard Round the World”\, a special 250th-American Revolution anniversary celebration of the Battle of Lexington and Concord. This commemorative event honors the rich history behind Lexington County’s namesake with an evening of engaging programs\, music\, and more. At this family-friendly event\, attendees can expect a meaningful and immersive experience that highlights the enduring legacy of America’s fight for independence. \nOn April 19\, 1775\, colonial militia stood their ground against British forces in Massachusetts\, igniting the American Revolution. This pivotal moment became known as the “Shot Heard Round the World\,” a phrase immortalized by Ralph Waldo Emerson. To honor this legacy\, Lexington County was officially named in 1785\, replacing the name Saxe Gotha\, and forever linking South Carolina to this pivotal historical event.
