DESCRIPTION:Some shows just feel like summer. While the outside temperatures may argue\, we’re excited to step into the world of Disney’s Frozen ~ complete with snow\, sisters\, reindeer\, trolls and\, of course\, one very optimistic snowman. \nFrozen is certainly beloved for its music and magic\, but at its core\, this is a story about love in its truest form ~ the kind that shows up\, forgives\, protects and keeps trying. It is a story about finding your voice\, learning who you are and discovering that sometimes the bravest action is to open the door again. \nTown Theatre is especially excited to share this production as it unites so many of the things we love most: young performers and seasoned actors\, families working side by side\, beautiful technical elements\, heart-thumping musical moments and a story that reaches every generation. \nLeading the way are sisters Elsa\, portrayed by Sara Slaughter (She Loves Me) and Anna\, taken by Mary Jayne Davis (Grease). Audiences will enjoy seeing Kristoff\, in the hands of Alex Cowsert (Beautiful)\, and his sidekick Sven\, played by Town newcomer Billie Redner. And we can’t forget the forever melting Olaf\, warmly played by Sofie Jones (in her Town main stage debut) and Hans\, the polished prince of the Southern Isles\, carried by Nathan Jackson (The Secret Garden). Alongside a wonderful ensemble\, these actors help create the world audiences know and love while making the show feel right at home on the Town Theatre stage. \nThis production will bring an extra sparkle to the audience experience with special LED wristbands that help transform the theatre into the icy kingdom of Arendelle. But amidst the excitement of opening night\, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self…and all that jazz. \nThis show is directed by Jamie Carr Harrington\, with musical direction by Amanda Hines Wrona and choreography by Christy Shealy Mills. Performances are May 10-25\, 2024. SUMMARY:Moon Over Buffalo at Town Theatre
DESCRIPTION:It’s 1953 in Buffalo where actors\, George and Charlotte Hay\, are fading faster than a New York minute. Their struggle to keep their name in lights has them performing Cyrano de Bergerac and Private Lives in tandem on the repertory theatre circuit. If fighting for their professional survival wasn’t enough\, their marriage is on a downward slope. And\, making matters even more desperate\, their daughter is soon to marry outside of the land of thespians as she is engaged to\, of all walks of life\, a WEATHER MAN. There seems to be a break in the storm\, however\, when word arrives that a Hollywood director is coming to see their performances. Will the band of performers be able to change their course? \nTaking the stage as George and Charlotte Hay are Town’s own version of the Lunts\, are Bill DeWitt (Baskerville\, White Christmas) and Kathy Hartzog (Driving Miss Daisy\, Always… Patsy Cline). Colorful characters joining the Hays in the green room of the Erlanger Theatre include Charlotte’s hard of hearing mother\, Ethel\, taken by Karen Herschell (The Red Velvet Cake War\, My Fair Lady). Their daughter Rosalind\, former actress-seeking-a- “real-world-job\,” is played by Allison Allgood (The Game’s Afoot\, A Christmas Carol). She is engaged to David LaTorre (The Wizard of Oz\, Bright Star)\, the rather nervous and excitable forecaster. Company manager Paul\, who happens to be in love with Rosalind\, is portrayed by Joel Yarborough (Mamma Mia\, Spamalot). What farce would be complete without a little scandal? Ours is courtesy of the ingénue Eileen\, taken by Zanna Mills (The Play That Goes Wrong\, The Music Man) and the Hay’s lawyer\, Richard\, in the hands of Steve Reeves (The Odd Couple\, Arsenic and Old Lace). \nIf you enjoy a good belly laugh\, Moon Over Buffalo is sure to hit the mark. If you’re an actor\, have even been on the stage\, or one day aspire to take a turn on the boards\, then you’ll love it even more. Their efforts to meet the Great and Powerful Oz\, in the hands of Town newcomer Manny Moitoso\, are often hijacked by the fiendish foe\, none other than the Wicked Witch herself\, portrayed by Carol Beis (A Christmas Story: The Musical). Thank goodness for the magic of Glinda\, the Good Witch of the North\, taken by Lisa Baker (Into the Woods). Throw in a humorous Guard\, in the capable hands of Todd Gustafson (Bright Star)\, some miraculous munchkins (portrayed by a bevy of talented young people) and amazing dancing in the form of tornados and poppies and jitterbugs\, oh my! DESCRIPTION:Country has never had it so good with Town’s rendition of Always…Patsy Cline. Meet Louise Seger\, a divorced Houston housewife\, as she shares her memories and her first real-life encounter with country legend\, Patsy Cline. Based on a true story\, this show mixes Patsy’s country croons with Louise’s comedic turns. Town’s production premiered in August 2000 as a Town Theatre fundraiser. Our show\, staring Kathy Hartzog as Louise and Shannon Willis Scruggs as Patsy\, has since graced the stages of the Newberry Opera House\, Bishopville Opera House\, community theatre venues in Dillon and Greenwood\, a statewide convention in Kiawah and\, of course\, 1012 Sumter Street. The show is directed by Allison McNeely with musical direction by Michael Simmons. We’ve said it before\, and we’ll say it again…you’re “Crazy” if you miss this one! \nAlways… Patsy Cline runs April 23-May 2. Tickets are $15 to $25 and may be purchased at towntheatre.com or by calling the box office at 803-799-2510. The box office is open for phone orders 12 noon to 5 PM weekdays Monday through Friday. \nAll shows are 7:30 PM with Sunday matinees at 3:00 PM. Performances on Friday\, April 30 and Saturday\, May 1 will be offered at full capacity. All other shows will have limited capacity and distanced seating.

DESCRIPTION:Town Theatre Announces the Continuation of its 101st Season \nOne year ago\, we hit “pause” on our 101st season due to the COVID crisis. Between then and now\, the theatre was fortunate to find ways to remain engaged and active despite the moratorium on live theatre. In October 2020\, we completed the run of Mary Poppins. We welcomed actors and audiences after implementing stringent COVID guidelines including installation of air filtration systems\, limiting audience capacity\, and putting into practice a hospital-grade disinfectant protocol. We are excited that it is time to start again! \nBROADWAY: Limited Exposure will run April 16-18. Though we know that COVID could force us to change our plans without notice\, we will move forward working according to CDC guidelines for the safety of our patrons\, staff and volunteers. \nBROADWAY: Limited Exposure\nFriday\, April 16 at 7:30 PM\nSaturday\, April 17 at 7:30 PM\nSunday\, April 18 at 3:00 PM \n*virtual streaming options available \nAbout the show:\nBROADWAY: Limited Exposure delivers a unique perspective to the pandemic that we have faced during the past year. As our emcee\, Bill DeWitt (My Fair Lady)\, will reminisce and even poke a little fun at some of the realities of living in the times of COVID. Not to be outdone\, Kathy Hartzog (Driving Miss Daisy) will add her typical special touch of humor. Scott Vaughan (Willy Wonka)\, Sheldon Paschal (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and Kathy Seppamaki (Nice Work if You Can Get It) bring their powerhouse voices to the stage. Clayton King (Mamma Mia)\, Hannah Thompson (Into the Woods) and Lanny Spires (Newsies) will delight with poignant moments through songs that touch the heart. \nAdding the married couples’ viewpoints are Adam & Jillian Bigony (both of Beauty and the Beast) and Chip & Cortlin Collins (Million Dollar Quartet; South Pacific\, respectively). And joining us from the cast of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder are Heather Hinson and Virginia Walker. Audiences will also enjoy Kerri Roberts (Mary Poppins)\, Billy Bishop (Matilda) and members of the Town Teen Troupe who will pop in to share some of their beautiful vocals. DESCRIPTION:After a 6-month hiatus\, WE’RE BACK! Mary Poppins will return to the Town Theatre stage October 23 through November 14. Tickets will be available starting Wednesday\, October 14 at 12 noon at towntheatre.com or by calling 803-799-2510. (If you had a reservation for the original run\, you may call to rebook now.) \nSHOW TIMES ARE NOT ALWAYS AT 7:30PM. SEE TABLE BELOW. \nTo operate during time of COVID\, the theatre has taken may precautions including installation of air purification systems and use of a ULV Cold Fogger and HOCl maker allowing Town to generate and distribute disinfectant on site. Our audiences will be masked with seats separating them from other parties. Children Michael and Jane are out of control and have run off yet another nanny. In the most peculiar way\, a mysterious\, but practically perfect\, woman appears at the doorstep — none other than Mary Poppins herself! Though she has a seemingly daunting task\, with a little magic and some help from Bert\, an adorable chimneysweep\, the Banks’ children have their world turned upside down. \nFor the “re-boot” of our 2020 production\, Town is pleased to have Kerri Roberts (West Side Story) reprise her role as the nanny in charge\, Mary Poppins\, with Jeremy Hansard (Into the Woods) as the endearing chimneysweep Bert. Ellie Roberts (Frozen Jr.) brings the very best of sass as Jane with Kyran Burkett (Newsies) following close behind as Michael. Patrick McCormick (Mamma Mia) seemingly rules the household as George Banks while Hannah Thompson (Into the Woods) is caught in a struggle between playing wife and being her true self as Winifred Banks.
