Charleston Christmas Special is all-new for 29th season

September 25, 2024

See why thousands of people make the Charleston Christmas Special part of their holiday tradition. Produced by Moranz Entertainment, this holiday spectacular for all ages runs Dec. 12 to Dec. 22 at the Charleston Music Hall.

Featuring a cast of more than 20 professional singers, dancers, and musicians, Brad and Jennifer Moranz have created an all-new show for their 29th season.

“Each year we bring together holiday classics, new favorites, comedy sketches and world-class talent for a brand-new show,” Brad Moranz said. “We prepare all year for performance, knowing just how many families look forward to this holiday season tradition.”

Returning to this year’s show are singers Matthew Billman and Matt Shingledecker. Billman will perform a show-stopper version of David Phelps’ song “End of the Beginning.” And Shingledecker will sing Jordan Smith’s version of “Mary Did You Know?”

New to this year’s Christmas Special is singer Winston Daniels from Texas. He’ll partner with Christmas Special newcomer Kelsey Denae for a duet of Bebe and Cece Winans’ version of “The First Noel.”

Audiences will enjoy performances from Christmas Special regulars Tiffany Parker and Jenna Flaherty.

Parker will bring out the country Christmas with Jennifer Nettles’ version of “Cool Yule” and the Little Big Town rendition of “Go Tell It On The Mountain.” Flaherty will perform an incredible version of “Hallelujah.”

“This year’s show is full of holiday favorites and traditional tunes mixed with new songs and a few surprises,” Brad Moranz said. “It’s a completely new show each season and that’s what keeps audiences coming back year after year.”

The immensely talented cast will combine their voices for several duets and group performances. The men will sing a magical version of Il Divo’s rendition of “The Lord’s Prayer.” Flaherty and Denae will join for a pop version of “Put a Little Holiday In Your Heart.” Denae and Parker will perform “There Is a Santa Claus” from the Broadway version of “Elf: The Musical.”

Demetrius Doctor has written an original dueling piano song that he will perform with Abdiel Iriarte. The two will tickle the ivories to “Boogie Bells,” a version of “Jingle Bells.”

And violinist James Anderson returns to perform “Carol of the Bells” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.” He also will accompany Parker as she sings “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch.”

Certainly, no Christmas Special is complete without the holiday-themed comedic antics of Brad and Jennfier Moranz. The husband-and-wife duo write, choreograph, produce and star in the Charleston Christmas Special each year.
