GSSM Offers Tuition-Free Virtual Courses to SC High School Students for 2024-2025 School Year

June 15, 2024

The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) has announced an exciting new opportunity for high school students across the state. For the 2024-2025 school year, GSSM will offer live virtual courses tuition-free, allowing students to take one or more GSSM courses from the comfort of their homes while collaborating with peers statewide.

These virtual classes, taught via Zoom by experienced GSSM instructors, aim to provide a robust and interactive learning experience. Students will engage in classroom discussions, small group conversations, and problem-solving sessions, fostering a collaborative environment despite the physical distance. All instructional materials, including textbooks and lab kits, will be provided free of charge by GSSM.

The course offerings include dual enrollment options in Calculus and Physics, as well as honors engineering electives and upper-level math electives. To enroll in these courses, students must have completed Honors PreCalculus or an equivalent course. For a complete list of available courses, students and parents are encouraged to view the course catalog provided by GSSM.

Dr. Kroeger, a representative from GSSM, stated, “We are thrilled to extend this opportunity to students across South Carolina. Our goal is to make high-quality education accessible to all, regardless of geographic location.”
