June 18, 2024

The South Carolina Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (SCPRSA) announced Brooks Hearn, APR as the 2024 recipient of its Volunteer Service Award.

Hearn, the associate public relations director at Chernoff Newman, has served in leadership roles within SCPRSA since 2018. In 2022, she served as the chapter’s president and represented SCPRSA at PRSA’s national assembly in 2022 and 2023. During her year as SCPRSA’s president, she earned the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) designation.

“I am beyond grateful for each of the SCPRSA board members and my colleagues at Chernoff Newman for making this award possible,” Hearn said. “I was truly surprised and am honored to join the legacy of Volunteer Service Award recipients.”

She has volunteered as a judge for multiple communications awards competitions at the state and national level and has created Mercury and Silver Wing award-winning public relations campaigns and tactics.

Hearn joined Chernoff Newman in 2022 after several in-house communications roles in the economic development and education sectors. In addition to SCPRSA, she has volunteered and served on boards for local and state nonprofits. Her involvement with PRSA began as a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter at the University of South Carolina.
