Laurens Academy’s Garrison Vaughn Named Laurens County Touchdown Club Player of the Week for September 20th

The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for games played on September 20th, the Player of the week is junior offensive and defensive lineman Garrison Vaughn of Laurens Academy.

Garrison is a junior offensive and defensive lineman for the Laurens Academy Crusaders as they defeated W.W. King Academy by a score of 5235 Friday night to go 4 – 2 on the season and defeat King Academy for the first time in several years.

Garrison Vaughn is a Laurens Academy junior who helped pave the way for the Crusader offenseto rack up 484 total yards of offense and score 52 points.  Five of Laurens Academy’s seven touchdowns on the night came from at least 42 yards out.  Defensively, Vaughn had 10 total tackles including 6 tackles for loss and had a huge blocked punt on special teams.

Head Coach Jolly Doolittle stated; Garrison is everything you want in an offensive and defensive lineman.  He is tough and relentless, smart and precise, and an unselfish leader on the team.”

The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Vaughn on October 3rd at the bi-monthlyTouchdown Club meeting.  The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens.  Player of the Week awards is presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County in 2024.

The October 3rd meeting will feature highly popular Coach Mike Ayers, former head football coach at Wofford College and South Carolina Football Hall of Fame member, as our featuredspeaker.  The Farm Bureau Insurance “Player of the Week’ awards will be presented for the September 20 and September 27 High School football games as well.

The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge located in Laurens at 301 Exchange Road and the public is invited.  Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. All meetings are at Noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 am.
