Laurens County Sports Hall of Fame Now Accepting Nominations for 2025 Inductees

September 22, 2024

The Laurens County Sports Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for the Class of 2025. The induction ceremony will be held in May and will feature the sixth class of inductees to be honored for their contributions to Laurens County sports.

The Hall of Fame was established in 2017 to recognize men and women who, through their athletic achievements, have brought pride and honor to Laurens County. The inaugural class in 2017 included Barry Atkinson, King Dixon, Chick Galloway, Cally Gault, JD Fuller, Chrissy Floyd, Keith Richardson, and Kevin Long. Subsequent classes have featured notable names such as Rickey Foggie, Truman Owens, William Hill, Shell Dula, Robert Wilder, and Jean Hammond Whitfield.

Nominations for the Class of 2025 will remain open until December 15, 2024. Nomination forms are available at www.laurenscountysportshalloffame.com. The Hall of Fame is open to all Laurens County residents, past and present, who meet specific criteria. Nominees must have been a resident of Laurens County for at least five years and must be out of high school for 10 years.

While athletic achievement is the main emphasis for selection, nominees should also represent positive aspects of sportsmanship, integrity, citizenship, leadership, and contributions to the community. Deceased citizens may also be nominated, and all forms will remain on file for future consideration.
