17th Annual Fight of the Dove Event Registration Open
July 13, 2022Cyclists have been coming out to ride and support Hospice of Laurens County since 2006 in the Flight of the Dove ride.
The annual event is also their biggest fundraiser each year. Now in its 17th year, the event has grown in popularity, drawing riders from all over South Carolina and surrounding states. Registration in recent years has been around 300 riders and they are expecting the same or more this year.
Flight of the Dove 2022 is scheduled for August 6.
“This is our biggest fundraiser each year and proceeds from the event help to fund our charity care patient program and other initiatives that serve the citizens of Laurens County,” said Katie Bagwell, Manager of Volunteer Services and Community Engagement. “Funds from Flight of the Dove and other efforts throughout the year help us fulfill our promise to the community which is to care for all regardless of age, medical complexity, or ability to pay.”
Flight of the Dove features a metric century (62 miles), a 30-mile ride, and a 14-mile leisure ride. A 50-mile variation of the metric century is also available. Cue sheets and directions to the stadium are available at www.hospiceoflaurenscounty.org under the event section. All rides have a SAG team (support and gear) and have frequent, well-stocked rest stops.
T-shirts are guaranteed to riders who register prior to July 15. Lunch is provided to all participants. All rides begin and end Presbyterian College Bailey Memorial Stadium. Pre-registration is $40 and same day registration is $45. Registration includes lunch for all riders.
Helmets are required for all riders and children under the age of 15 must ride with an adult.
