30th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration – January 15

Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis, Benedict College’s first female president, will be the keynote speaker at the City of Columbia’s 30th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Monday, January 15, 2018, the City of Columbia announced.

Artis is the college’s 14th president and is the first female president in the institution’s 147-year history.

The annual celebration will begin at 4 p.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Park and Community Center, 2300 Greene Street.

A Wreath Laying Ceremony commemorating the historic marker honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be held at 3 p.m. at the corner of Harden and Greene streets on Monday, January 15. Members of the Alpha Psi Lambda and Omicron Iota Lambda chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. will lead the ceremony.
