The First Place Winning Boat: Robyn King of Columbia, SC
The Patriotic Boat Parade on Lake Murray took place Saturday, July 1, 2023. The boat parade kicked off the 35th Annual 4th of July Celebration on Lake Murray Presented by Lexington Medical Center. The theme this year “Red, White, Blue and You” (What does the 4th of July Mean to you?) was on full display with 40 registered boats. The organizer, Capital City/Lake Murray Country thanks their Judges: Chase Heatherly (Post & Courier), Intisar Faulkner (WIS), and Rachel Ripp (WLTX) for their help in selecting the top 4 boats.

The Celebration Continues Tonight!
South Carolina’s largest fireworks show will take place at dark, approximately 9:30 p.m. from two lake locations, Spence and Dreher Island. The show is synchronized to a patriotic concert that will air simultaneously on the Cumulus Media radio station B106.7 WTCB. Make sure to listen to the live radio broadcast (the old-fashioned way) as streaming the station might incur delays. Both park sites at the Lake Murray Dam, and Dreher Island State Park will be open until they reach capacity. All normal fees will apply at park sites, boat launching sites, and Marinas on Lake Murray. Should thunder and lightning occur and cause a postponement, the fireworks will take place on Sunday, July 2 without the parade. CCLMC will notify the public via the press and social media.
The fireworks are funded through Capital City/Lake Murray Country’s fundraising efforts at the Taste of Lake Murray each year, private donations, and the support of the following sponsors: Lexington Medical Center, Dominion Energy, First Community Bank, Palm Beach Tan, WhiteWater Landing on Lake Murray, Michelin, DoubleTree by Hilton, and Tidewater Boats.
