Katie Monoc appointed to S.C. Bar Trial and Appellate Advocacy Section Council

July 11, 2017

Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP announced that attorney Kathleen Fowler Monoc has been appointed to the S.C. Bar Trial and Appellate Advocacy Section Council for a one-year term, effective July 1.

The Council helps facilitate the S.C. Bar Trial and Appellate Advocacy Section’s goals. This includes sponsoring programs on litigation skills, effective advocacy, and specialized areas of litigation practice in an effort to improve the art and technique of trial advocacy. The S.C. Bar Trial and Appellate Advocacy Section also promotes professional values in trial advocacy lawyers, co-sponsors a continuing legal education seminar at the Bar convention, and encourages members to submit articles to South Carolina Lawyer.

In her practice at Smith Moore Leatherwood, Monoc is a litigator and a counselor. She advocates on behalf of clients in advance of litigation and throughout the litigation process. In addition, she counsels clients on compliance and best practices, including both political and ethical contexts. Monoc has experience in politics as well as political law, and she advised a gubernatorial campaign on legal matters and ethics compliance in the 2014 election cycle.

Monoc graduated cum laude from Presbyterian College and from the Charleston School of Law, where she served as editor-in-chief of the Charleston Law Review.
