Make it easy for them to buy from you

A friend’s back door lock was broken.
He prides himself on being mechanically inclined. Most of us would have called a locksmith. He removed the lock and took it to the store where he bought it. At the store, it was simple and fast to get what he needed.
It took four minutes:
• He waited his turn – one minute.
• He handed the service rep the lock, who found a replacement – two minutes.
• He paid – one minute – and left.
How long did it take to install the new lock. He didn’t say. I’ll bet he did it in record time. He’s like that.
But here are the questions he asked me and I’m asking you:
How easy do you make it for customers to buy from you?
Oh, yeah? How do you know?
You may think you do but here’s how you can find out:
1. Act like your own customer. Use your website. Try to place an order.
2. Ask a friend to call your sales people and place an order.
This is critical because they will recognize your voice. I hope I’m wrong but you may find all isn’t as smooth as you thought. 3. Make notes on what you discover. Then fix everything you need to. Test your people and procedures. Your profits will be glad you did.
