February groundbreaking set for new medical packaging facility

February 7, 2018

The Ritedose Corporation (TRC) is poised to break ground on yet another era of growth, and Miller-Valentine Construction is its partner for the new 153,000 square foot insulated pre-cast panel project.

Both companies are looking forward to the February groundbreaking of TRC’s fully conditioned, class “A” insulated pre-cast panel facility. The majority of the building will be dedicated to packaging, with space allocated for light assembly, warehousing, and administrative offices. When it is completed this summer, it will be a gleaming, state-of-the-art model for world-class packaging operations. It will include an energy-efficient design, advanced mechanical systems, LED lighting, and a sophisticated building management system for maintaining the required pharmaceutical tolerances in the warehouse/production areas.

TRC specializes in the production of inhalation products, eye drops, ear drops, and oral liquids. The company is a leader in blow-fill-seal (BFS) manufacturing, in which containers are formed, filled, and sealed in a continuous, automated process.

For more than 20 years, TRC has operated at Carolina Research Park in Richland County, South Carolina. During that time, it grew from an 11-person operation with an annual capacity of 42 million units to a leading provider of BFS manufacturing with an annual capacity of 1.7 billion units.

When it came time to expand its operations again, TRC engaged Miller-Valentine to provide design/build construction services for a new warehouse and packaging facility to be constructed in the Enterprise Industrial Campus of Midlands Technical College. The new location will be less than one mile from TRC’s headquarters.

The new project will allow TRC the ability to customize its facility to suit its specific needs and workflow. By teaming with Miller-Valentine, the company has been able to seamlessly and cost-effectively develop a building design that satisfies its operational needs today and into the future.

The project’s requirements and its fast-track schedule make it an ideal match for the delivery process and experience of the Miller-Valentine team, and we are honored to be part of TRC’s investment in the future.
