Fisher Phillips strengthens Columbia office with return of veteran employment litigator

January 4, 2018

Fisher Phillips announced experienced employment, labor and health and safety attorney Matthew Korn has rejoined the firm in the Columbia office.

At the firm, Korn advises clients on day-to-day employment issues, litigates single-plaintiff and class and collective actions, and offers employers assistance on traditional labor matters, including union avoidance campaigns, unfair labor practice charges and grievance arbitrations. Additionally, he utilizes his previous experience in health and safety litigation with the federal government to counsel clients during government investigations, through proactive safety program implementation and throughout the litigation process.

“Matt’s extensive experience working directly with the U.S. Department of Labor, combined with his specialized work litigating mine safety and health cases, helps our firm deliver the very best legal counsel,” said Steve Mitchell, managing partner of the Fisher Phillips Columbia office. “His return to the firm is an asset to both Fisher Phillips and our clients.”

Prior to rejoining Fisher Phillips, Korn spent the past 1 ½ years as in-house counsel at a multinational, publicly traded mining company. Before his initial stint with the firm, he worked for the U.S. Department of Labor, where he litigated mine safety and health cases before the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission.

Korn earned his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as a judicial intern to the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission and as Managing Editor of the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law and Policy. Korn is actively involved in the community, serving with the United Way of the Midlands and its Young Leaders Society.
