Carolina Business Equipment moves into Lowcountry with acquisition of DocuQuest

October 4, 2017

Continuing its recent trend of expansion, Columbia, SC-headquartered IT and print solutions company Carolina Business Equipment (CBE) has acquired DocuQuest, an office equipment dealer based in Savannah, Georgia. It is the second acquisition in as many months for CBE.

Company president John Eckstrom noted that the DocuQuest acquisition is an important step in Carolina Business Equipment’s growth strategy.

“With the acquisition of DocuQuest, we now have a solid footprint in Savannah, which will allow us to reach into other parts of the Lowcountry of South Carolina and certainly into parts of southeast Georgia,” he said.

DocuQuest was founded by John Prussia in 2002 and has grown steadily over the past 15 years. It represents Toshiba MFP products. CBE carries a full line of gear for Sharp, Toshiba, and Oki Data printers and copiers and has served its customers for over 45 years. CBE also operates a factory service training facility at its corporate headquarters in Columbia, SC.

From CBE’s home base in Columbia, it supports the midlands of South Carolina and the Aiken, SC and Augusta, GA markets. CBE also has branch offices in Charleston, SC, and Florence, SC, as well as several remote support personnel. The acquisition of DocuQuest in Savannah and the recent addition of S&B Office Supplies and Furnishings in the Piedmont area of South Carolina represent a gradual expansion of CBE’s service territory.

CBE’s network operations center houses a team of dedicated IT professionals and represents the fastest growing segment of the company. Network services clients include the Columbia Fireflies, named the most technologically advanced minor league ballpark in the US in 2016, and television manufacturer Element Electronics.

“With clients all over the country, CBE has truly become ‘an IT company for IT companies,’” Eckstrom said.
