Habitat Greenville continues neighborhood revitalization in Saluda Bluffs

On March 17, 2018 Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County held a neighborhood revitalization celebration in the Saluda Bluffs neighborhood.
Residents, community members, law enforcement officers and volunteers from Advent United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church of Greenville, in partnership with Trees Greenville, planted trees in the neighborhood. The volunteers also completed some general landscaping with materials donated by Palmetto’s Finest Landscaping. A ceremony to unveil a new neighborhood entrance sign, donated by Jack Porter Signs, preceded a community picnic for all those involved in the project.
Started in 1998, Saluda Bluffs is a Habitat for Humanity neighborhood of over 60 homes. Many of the current families are the original owners, and over 20 have paid off their mortgages. During the past year, Habitat has launched a neighborhood revitalization effort in in Saluda Bluffs. Resident meetings are held on a regular basis and the neighborhood is now focused on improved safety and property maintenance. As an approved Habitat for Humanity International NR affiliate, the agency is utilizing a holistic community development model that is responding to community aspirations with an array of services and partnerships, empowering residents to revive their neighborhoods and enhance their quality of life.
