AmeriCorps VISTA member joins Rebuild Upstate

September 25, 2017

AmeriCorps VISTA member Matthew Yochum has joined the Rebuild Upstate team.

AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program designed to alleviate poverty in communities across the country. Individuals take part in the program for one year and are sent where needed based on personal skill sets and the needs of various programs. During his time with Rebuild Upstate, Yochum will focus on capacity building and inter-agency collaboration.

Prior to joining the AmeriCorps VISTA program, Yochum interned with United Way of the Coastal Empire in Savannah, Georgia. He majored in Philosophy and Religion at Wofford College and served as coordinator of Wofford’s Joy Prom, an annual black-tie event for children with disabilities. Yochum is a regular volunteer for United Way’s Hands on Greenville (HOG) Day and the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.

“We are very fortunate to work with Matthew over the course of the next year,” said Chris Manley, founder and executive director of Rebuild Upstate. “Matthew’s dedication to volunteerism directly aligns with the mission of Rebuild Upstate, and he will be a great asset to the families we serve.”
