The Woodlands at Furman celebrates Continuing Care Retirement Communities week

The Woodlands at Furman residents and staff celebrated Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) week this week, in a celebration of active, engaged living throughout the retirement years.

CCRC week is an event celebrated by communities across the country. While the theme of the event changes every year, the focus does not. For the Woodlands at Furman, this focus means encouraging residents to lead active lives through the four core principles of Masterpiece Living – physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual fulfillment. Masterpiece Living guides the Woodlands at Furman lifestyle year-round, but CCRC week marks a special opportunity to encourage living out these principles.

This year’s theme is Revolutionary: 1776-2016, with an emphasis on education about the Revolutionary War. Planned activities during the week include blacksmithing and candle making demonstrations, lectures on battles that took place locally, and dance lessons.

“CCRC week marks an opportunity to introduce new and novel activities to Woodlands at Furman residents,” said Andrea Payment, Lifestyle Director at the Woodlands at Furman. “We use this week as a way to continually engage our residents’ minds, bodies, and spirits with new information and events.”
